[edit]Inherited from Old Anatolian Turkish بِیُوكْ (beyük), from Proto-Turkic *bedük (“big”), derived from *bedü- (“to grow big”).[1][2] By surface analysis, büü- + -ük. Compare Turkish büyük, Azerbaijani böyük. [3]
