[edit]From architectus (“architect, designer”) + -tūra, the former of which is a remodeling of Ancient Greek ἀρχιτέκτων (arkhitéktōn) under influence of tegō. The "Latinization" of the second component facilitated the suffixion of -tūra, overriding the originally stem-immanent t.
