Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آپرمق (aparmak), from Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (aparmaq), likely from *alıp barmak, in which case it would be equivalent to alıp + varmak (to go). Compare Azerbaijani aparmaq, Uzbek obormoq, Uyghur ئاپارماق (aparmaq), Kyrgyz алпаруу (alparuu), Shor апар (to take away), Kazakh апару (aparu), Southern Altai апар- (apar-, to take away), etc.
