Perhaps ana- + Ancient Greek αὖλαξ (aûlax, “ridge; groove”) + ῥίζα (rhíza, “root; radix”).

     The roots are anaulacorhize with a wide basal face. Numerous small foramina are distributed on the lingual and labial faces of the roots and there is a row of larger foramina developed approximately in the middle portion of the root on both the lingual and labial faces.

   • 2008, Lionel Cavin, A. E. Longbottom, Martha Richter, Fishes and the Break-up of Pangaea, page 101:

     Only one tooth, the holotype TF 7680, has the root preserved, but lacks both the mesial and distal extremities. The root is anaulacorhize and two-thirds the height of the crown.
