alcolock (plural alcolocks)

  1. A mechanism that prevents a car from starting if the driver has exceeded the legal limits of alcohol consumption.

      Various international studies have shown that alcolock users had 65% to 95% fewer repeat offences than drivers whose driving licence was suspended or revoked. The previous Government conducted a trial programme in 2005, but there was never any follow-up.
