Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آقسرمق (aksırmak, to sneeze), from Proto-Turkic *askïr-. Cognate with Azerbaijani asqırmaq, Gagauz ansırmaa, Salar aqsır, Turkmen asgyrmak.
