Etymology

[edit]

-ad- +‎ -as +‎ -ismo. Mockery of a tendency in early and/or low-quality Esperanto poetry to make verbs rhyme by adding the suffix -ad-, so that they would all end in -adas etc. Coined by Antoni Grabowski ca. 1910.

  • Audio:(file)
  • Rhymes: -ismo
  • Hyphenation: a‧da‧sis‧mo

[edit]

adasismo (accusative singular adasismon, plural adasismoj, accusative plural adasismojn)

  1. (poetry, derogatory) rhyming by using the same suffix on two or more words
    • 2002, Jorge Camacho, "Arto poetika", La Ondo de Esperanto, 2002 issue 6 (92):
Krom adasismoj, abundas ankaŭ rimokrimoj similaj al la praparo koro/doloro (“perloj/merloj” sur p. 54, kie mi volonte ŝanĝus “l” al “d”) kaj, ĉefe, rimoj strasaj.
Apart from suffix rhymes, it also abounds with rhyme crimes similar to the clichéd koro/doloro ("perloj/merloj" on page 54, where I would willingly change "l" to "d") and generally cheap rhymes.
    Synonym: sufiksrimo
