    • c. 190 BCE, Plautus, Bacchides 4.5.8:
      adambulabo ad ostium ut quando exeat / extemplo advenienti ei tabellas dem in manum
      I'll walk before the door, that when he comes out, at once as he comes up, I may put the letters in his hand.
