Borrowed from Late Latin acardia, formed on Ancient Greek ἀ- (a-, -less) +‎ κᾰρδῐ́ᾱ (kardíā, heart) +‎ -ῐ́ᾱ (-íā, suffix forming abstract nouns). Equivalent to a- +‎ -cardia.
