[edit]From a- + borne (“boundary”), from Old French bodne, from Early Medieval Latin bodina, a word of unknown ultimate origin, but possibly from Proto-Indo-European *bʰudʰmḗn (“bottom, base”), see also Proto-Celtic *bundos.[1]
