From Hokkien, via Spanish, the Spanish-era romanized Hokkien Chinese name of the family founding patriarch, composed of the patriarch's original surname, then one of the syllable's of his given name (either the personal non-generational character or the generational character of his Hokkien Chinese given name), then the Hokkien (ko, older brother) male honorific suffix.
