@Jidanni The first syllable is related to the typical Chinese Filipino surname Yu, which is usually from Hokkien 楊 / 杨 (iûⁿ). The last syllable "-co" in the format of this type of Chinese Filipino patriarchal surname from more than a century ago is usually Hokkien 哥 (ko), which is a male honorific suffix in Hokkien appended at the end of a name, though nowadays Quanzhou-based Philippine Hokkien does not typically use that in favor of Hokkien 兄 (hiaⁿ), which this type of patriarchal surname (typically 3 or 2 syllables ending in -co) is a remnant of surnames from the time Zhangzhou-based Early Manila Hokkien used to still be widely spoken in the Chinese Filipino community in the Philippines centuries ago. The middle syllable is one of the founding patriarch's Hokkien given name syllables, usually his personal non-generational character if his name was initially traditionally named with a generational character, or his generational character of his given name for various family reasons, or just one of the syllables/characters of his Hokkien Chinese given name if the patriarch was not traditionally named with any generational character.
