Etymology
[edit]The atonal Hanyu Pinyin romanization of the Mandarin 徐家匯/徐家汇 (Xújiāhuì, literally “Xu Family Confluence”) in reference to the prominence of the Xu family in the area during the Ming dynasty and the previous junction of several streams and canals in the area.
