@شہاب You need to fix your transliterations to conform to Wiktionary:Urdu transliteration, namely I see the you enter vowels with double letters instead of macron letters. Shun digraphs! Fay Freak (talk) 10:41, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Fay Freak: I have made some changes. Kindly check them and let me know. Shahab.bot (talk) 17:20, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
@شہاب I think it is likely that إبصار cannot be an Urdu spelling. Does Urdu use that sign إ?, and even when the following vowel is /a/? Fay Freak (talk) 00:36, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Fay Freak: When I try to create ابصار, I don't get an option and the page which opens is Arabic إبصار. So I had to add Urdu ابصار here. Shahab.bot (talk) 21:49, 10 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Shahab.bot you can access the entry to be created directly via the URL. Or do it like this: Put {{also|ابصار}} on top of إبصار and then you have a link to ابصار. Fay Freak (talk) 21:55, 10 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Fay Freak: Many thanks. It did work. Shahab.bot (talk) 18:56, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Effect of bot-created entries on participation of editors

[edit]

It appears that where certain Wiktionaries have been largely or wholly created by running a bot, those Wiktionaries fail to attract editors after that. A good example of this is the Persian Wiktionary which has never had active editors, but consists of bot-created articles. Perhaps the existence of bot-created articles has a deterrent effect by making it seem as though all the work has already been done. That would be worrying when it comes to Urdu entries on this Wiktionary as it is badly in need of manual editors. Kaixinguo~enwiktionary (talk) 13:01, 2 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I think you are confusing cause and effect. There are relatively few Persians (and far, far fewer non-Persians with near-native proficiency) available to edit Persian Wiktionary, whereas English Wiktionary is always going to have more editors because there are so many more English speakers. We should not begrudge anyone who creates good entries, by means of a bot or manually. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 18:32, 2 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
