(ecology) A type of wildlife crossing in the form of a bridge or tunnel, usually covered with foliage and turf, which animals may use to cross roads without the risk of being hit by vehicles; a wildlife viaduct. Today is the eve of World Wildlife Day, which is recognized by the United Nations to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild fauna and flora. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was adopted on 3 March 1973.
