Template:fact

Since you're new, try not to edit too fast, it leads to errors. Sanger needs a language, if it's English, but ==English==. You probably want English AND Danish, so put

Are you certain about the Danish pronunciation? I've never heard the name pronounced in Danish, so I don't know, but it might rhyme with the name "Langer", which is pronounced with stød. About related terms, are you sure that Sanger (the name) and sanger ("singer") are related? and how are the Japanese Sango related to them?--Leo Laursen – (talk · contribs) 15:11, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Agree with Mglovesfun, you're making a lot of mistakes. A couple more things to keep in mind. We generally want to keep tangential information out of entries, to keep them focused. Talk pages are almost never used for discussion here. We simply have too few people and too many entries. A few more things

Please don't be discouraged too easily. Wiktionary formatting is a lot more precise than Wikipedia formatting, because we don't write in paragraphs here.

1. pais doesn't have Greek because Greek uses the Greek script
2. etymology for paedo is correct. Ths reader is invited to read paedophile to see where that comes from
3. obnoxious it not a Latin word, so it goes under ====Descendants==== not ====Derived terms====. This is to distinguish between terms derived in the same language, and other languages.
4. When writing a definition for spear, don't start "a spear is". We don't repeat the word in the definitions, open a paper dictionary and compare.

I've got a few more things for you. First, editing other people's comments on talk pages or discussion rooms is not allowed, even to correct minor grammatical errors or add time stamps. If someone leaves a comment completely unsigned, there is a template which can be used, {{unsigned}}. The use of this template specifically alerts people that someone other than the speaker has left that signature. If someone has left a signature without a timestamp, it's generally frowned upon, but it's their right. I've reverted both your edits which edited the comments of others', including one where you also left a comment of your own, which you'll have to redo if you want it to exist. Sorry about that. Also, concerning etymologies. I might be wrong here, but it seems like you're sometimes editing in areas that you don't understand. Please don't. Using information from other places when you don't really understand what it means almost inevitably introduces errors. If you're looking for something to do, there's a bunch of fairly easy stuff at Wiktionary:Todo. I'd like to reiterate what Mglovesfun said about not getting discouraged. Wiktionary can be a hard place to edit. We have a lot of complex standards, and we enforce them rather harshly, and we have no problem telling people when they've made a mistake. However, we also understand how hard this makes it for new folks, and we're generally pretty happy to answer any questions, so please ask when you have them. I'm not sure what to think of that stuff about editing other people's comments. I guess the rule Atelaes cites is a good one, but I think users should be allowed to waive it by, e.g., posting a userbox to their page saying that they don't mind people editing their comments to make such fixes.
