English run circles around | Old |
|
New | en:verb:run circles around
| |
Comments | The second param contains the language code, POS, optional headword and headword-specific parameters like gender, translit, etc. Colons separate the language code from the POS and explicit headword(s) and per headword parameters like translit, transcription, script, qualifiers, labels and references are specified using inline modifiers; use + to stand for the pagename as currently. Colons are only recognized as separators if a space does not follow; use a backslash before a colon to prevent its interpretation as a separator. Gender is headword-related but not (currently) a per-headword parameter; it is specified using an inline modifier after the last headword (which can be omitted entirely; see the example below for German Hund).

English sandbox | Old |
|
New | en:noun
| |
Comments | The third and subsequent params contain inflections, one per numbered param. The format is inflection tag, colon not followed by a space, and one or more comma-separated values, each of which can have inline modifiers. Inflection tag abbreviations are as for infl of and are expanded individually in space-separated words. Use an ! at the beginning of the tag to suppress expansion.

English milk | Old |
|
New | en:noun
| |
Comments | Labels can occur in place of an inflection. Here, we assume in the new version that there are inflection tags cnt and uncnt ; there aren't currently but they can be added and link to the glossary.

Latin nidus | Old |
|
New | la:noun:nīdus<g:m>
| |
Comments | An example in a foreign language with Latin script.
German Hund | Old |
|
New |
| |
Comments | An example with multiple values per inflection. Note that each value can have inline modifiers, and the gender inline modifier can directly follow the POS without an intervening headword.
Russian книга (kniga) | Old |
|
New |
| |
Comments | An example in a foreign script.
Russian интервьюер (intervʹjujer) | Old |
|
New |
| |
Comments | A more complex example in a foreign script.
Arabic غدة بصلية إحليلية | Old |
|
New |
| |
Comments | Another more complex example in a foreign script. Here, in practice there will be language-specific postprocessing to automatically set |enable_auto_translit=1 .
| |
Serbo-Croatian telo | Old |
|
New | sh:noun:tȇlo<g:n>
| |
Comments | An example where language-specific postprocessing makes sense. Here, we assume the Cyrillic spelling gets generated automatically.
German Hund | Old |
|
New |
| |
Comments | Another example where we can assume language-specific postprocessing. Here the postprocessing prefixes the stem Hund (derived from the lemma) to the inflection values for recognized inflection types, and ^ indicates umlaut of the stem. Diminutives automatically get neuter gender added.
