Determining rhymes

[edit]

Rhymes in Wiktionary are organized using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). See the Indonesian pronunciation key for examples demonstrating the sound that each IPA symbol represents.

The rhyme of a word is determined by the stressed syllables, and the rhyme itself must begin with a vowel. Examples can be seen in the following table (the stressed syllables are bolded).

Words Pronunciation Rhymes
batu /ˈba.tu/ -atu
akar /ˈa.kar/ -akar
kakak /ˈka.kaʔ/ -akaʔ
tepi /təˈpi/ -i
empat /əmˈpat/ -at
lebih /ləˈbih/ -ih
pendapat /pənˈda.pat/ -apat
serentak /sə.rənˈtaʔ/ -aʔ
