[edit]Multiple origins. The first part is Turku (a city in Finland) or turku (“marketplace”), or a medieval diminutive of a given name, from Swedish Tore or Torsten in western Finland, and Russian Дорофе́й (Doroféj) in eastern Finland. The second part is + -nen.
