[edit]Tull is first attested as thillo in 1134. 't Waal is first attested as wale in 1307. Tull is likely derived from Old Dutch tilli (“newly reclaimed land, newly cultivated land”). 't Waal derives from Middle Dutch wael (“kolk lake”).
