Etymology
[edit]Originally the name of what’s now called Tromsøya; from Old Norse Trums, possibly from Proto-Germanic *trumisō.[1] Also theorised to come from *Strums, from an ablaut form of straumr (“current, stream”). Cognate with Icelandic Trums.
