Etymology

Borrowed from Ancient Greek Τρισμέγιστος (Trismégistos, thrice-great), from τρῐ́ς (trís, thrice) +‎ μέγιστος (mégistos, greatest). Compare Mycenaean Greek 𐀴𐀪𐀮𐀫𐀁 (ti-ri-se-ro-e, triple hero).
