[edit]- (Friesland) First attested as Wijnser Tichel Werk in 1718. Calque of West Frisian Tichelwurk, derived from tichelwurk (“brickworks”).
- (Overijssel) Derived from the archaic term tichelwerk (“brickworks”). The area which the current neighbourhood stands on was formerly occupied by brick factories.
