[edit]= Template:zh-obsolete ("may be preserved in fossilised compounds and expressions")? @KevinUp. —Suzukaze-c◇◇ 06:18, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Suzukaze-c: I think we can insert an additional parameter to Template:zh-obsolete to make it display:
Obsolete sense as a standalone character in Modern Standard Chinese — may be preserved in fossilised compounds and expressions or other varieties of Chinese
- This template can then be deleted once that is done. KevinUp (talk) 06:25, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hm, they are indeed not the same then. (This seems to be the same issue as User_talk:Wyang#詞素.) It might be problematic if the outward appearance of
{{zh-obsolete}}
does not change though. The difference in tooltip text might be too subtle. —Suzukaze-c◇◇ 06:32, 6 September 2018 (UTC)- @KevinUp, Suzukaze-c On another note, I don't think we should be using the same symbol as

- @Justinrleung: I made some changes based on the suggestions given. Single quotes were added to 'stand-alone character' for emphasis. Can we create some sort of category for entries using this template? Also, entries using
{{zh-historical-dict}}
needs to be placed under a certain category. KevinUp (talk) 07:48, 6 September 2018 (UTC)- I think we now have ①
{{†}}
(alias for{{zh-obsolete}}
), ②{{zh-hg}}
(alias for{{zh-historical-dict}}
which uses the ‡ symbol) and ③{{zh-no-solo}}
, which uses the scribe symbol (⁜). All three can be used for single-character Chinese entries but ② and ③ are not to be used for compound words. KevinUp (talk) 08:01, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
