This table only has the season of the temperate areas, in the tropics its just summer/monsoon/winter AleksiB 1945 (talk) 17:13, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- Not all of the tropics has monsoons. Weather patterns vary a lot depending on ocean currents and land masses- I'm not sure how to cover seasons in places like deserts or islands in the Pacific Ocean. I live in a Mediterranean-type climate where all the precipitation is in the cooler half of the year. Other areas have distinct seasons for severe weather like hurricanes/cyclones and tornados. Given the large number of languages in India and other areas affected by monsoons, it might be worth it to have a separate template to cover them. Nevertheless, the languages originating from outside the tropics are spoken by huge numbers of people and are very influential worldwide- even in places that don't have four seasons. For those, we would want a template with four seasons. Chuck Entz (talk) 19:27, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- This LP of Rabindranath Tagore’s Seasonal Songs has (as the cover design suggests) songs in Bengali (I presume) for each of 6 seasons. I have this record, and the sleeve shows it as having 2 songs each for the first 5 and 1 for the last of these 6 seasons it says Bengal has:
- Grishma / Summer
- Barsha / Rainy Season
- Sharat / Pre-Autumn
- Hemanta / Autumn
- Sheet / Winter
- Basanta / Spring
- The record is numbered ECLP-2311, was almost certainly bought in Calcutta sometime in 1966–1975; the sleeve says it was manufactured by The Gramophone Company of India (Private) Limited, part of the E.M.I. group; the record says that the recordings were first published in 1965 (first 3 seasons above) and 1966 (the rest). - Since seasonal are culturally rather than purely physically determined they can be expected to vary from language to language. Perhaps the template should have optional parameters for all seasons recognised in languages we support. PJTraill (talk) 16:31, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
- At least we should add 2 distinct season names in tropics, wet and dry seasons. ―Rex Aurōrum「Disputātiō」 11:05, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
