Two Grammar Genders

[edit]

From what I could tell/attest, I think/believe this template needs to accompany a second gender parameter, just in case it needs to display two genders. --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 19:57, 21 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Have a look at बुध्न, for instance. --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 19:58, 21 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
use g=mn, like this --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 20:07, 21 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Request for creating new parameters

[edit]

@AryamanA, could you please include the parameters |m= & |f= for Sanskrit nouns so that masculine and feminine equivalents of words could be given? Thanks. inqilābī [inqilāb zindabād] 15:19, 30 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Lbdñk: Of course, I added those and |n= for neuter. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 15:56, 30 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@AryamanA: Also please add |mtr=, |ftr= & |ntr= for the transliterations of such words. Thanks. inqilābī [inqilāb zindabād] 16:37, 30 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@AryamanA, pinging you again in case you forgot. Actually, the parameters |m=, |f= & |n= do not automatically produce the transliterations, that's why |mtr=, |ftr= & |ntr= are needed. inqilābī [inqilāb zindabād] 11:31, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Lbdñk: So, in headword lines the general consensus is to not display transliterations. E.g. Hindi कुत्ता (kuttā) has no transliterations besides the main one. I believe this was agreed on because too many translits distract from the main translit of the word itself. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 17:23, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@AryamanA: That's good! So do you also not think that transliterations of derived/related terms, synonyms/antonyms, coordinate terms etc. are a distraction. In many language entries, for example, equivalent masculine or feminine equivalents are given as coordinate terms in stead of being given in the headword line. inqilābī [inqilāb zindabād] 10:42, 2 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Lbdñk: Since we now have collapsible templates like {{coordinate terms}} etc. that can go on definition lines, I think they're okay. Main thing is, the headword should only have the word, the translit, and very few related links. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 22:00, 2 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
