Template talk:lang2sc
Add topicOrdering of languages?
[edit]Currently the languages seem to be grouped by script, with scripts ordered by the first-in-alphabetical-order language code that maps to them? I think this is a rather confusing way to do it, and likely to get a bit messy. If we want to group by script (which does make sense), I think we should go in alphabetical order by script. That approach also lets us leave comment-y gaps for scripts that we're consciously excluding, like {{Hans}}
and {{Hant}}
and {{Hang}}
and {{Hrkt}}
and the like. The only complication would then be for scripts like KUchar — do we use the template name, or the corresponding ISO name (in this case Arab)? —RuakhTALK 03:23, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Is this ready?
[edit]Is this template ready for use yet? If not, what do we need to do to make it ready?
—RuakhTALK 19:53, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think the template's ready technically, but we should post something at WT:BP before moving into use. It would be best to double-check that we've covered as many lang/sc correlations as possible to avoid having to edit the template too much once it goes into broad distribution. - It would be wise to wait until March when Unicode 5.1 becomes official, and then a handful of other scripts could be added too (and possibly some already present specialized to subvariants). Also, before merging this to heavily-used templates such as
{{term}}
/{{t}}
, it might be good to test it inside much less used{{l}}

Note of use
[edit]I am using this as part of User:Conrad.Irwin/creation.js - the results get subst:ed so there will be no backlinks. Conrad.Irwin 13:39, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
orv-Cyrs
[edit]Old East Slavic (orv) could be added for the old Cyrillic alphabet (Cyrs). —Michael Z. 2008-11-21 01:51 z
Deletion debate
[edit]The following information has failed Wiktionary's deletion process.
It should not be re-entered without careful consideration.
This doesn't seem to be used anywhere and it has been superseded by the /script subtemplate of each language code. —CodeCat 20:31, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

- Delete. I've modified User:Conrad.Irwin/creation.js/inflNoun not to use it when people auto-create noun forms. —RuakhTALK 02:55, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- Not quite completely, it's still called by the line:in User:Conrad.Irwin/creation.js/inflNoun Matthias Buchmeier (talk) 09:03, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
