I'd like to clean up Category:Form-of templates and remove the redlinks/delete unecessary ones. This would include the ones in the title. Vininn126 (talk) 13:04, 9 May 2023 (UTC)

- Am I right in understanding that the proposal is to use e.g.
{{inflection of|gd|foo||dative}}
instead of{{dative of|gd|foo}}
? — excarnateSojourner (talk · contrib) 19:20, 9 May 2023 (UTC)- Yes. Vininn126 (talk) 19:55, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Vininn126 Could we please add
{{plural of}}
? It's just{{inflection of|xx|foo||plural}}

- Can we leave them uncategorized so we don't break old page revisions? Vox Sciurorum (talk) 20:10, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- We can deprecate them. Theknightwho (talk) 20:23, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- If we make them wrappers/redirects, that won't break the old revisions. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 06:24, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

- There seems to be very clear consensus here, @Benwing2 @JeffDoozan @Surjection As bot owners, could someone help? Vininn126 (talk) 14:24, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Vininn126 I can help with this and in fact I already have a script from awhile ago to orphan certain form-of templates that I can easily use for this. In terms of deprecation vs. deletion, I have used a criterion of 1,000-3,000 uses; if it's less than this I feel it's OK to just delete the template rather than keeping it as deprecated, but it depends on what others think. BTW
{{past tense of}}
can maybe also be deleted or deprecated, and it's used on less than 1,000 pages. BTW User:Theknightwho I think{{plural of}}
is used in too many places to get rid of and seems more basic than the rest. Benwing2 (talk) 20:12, 13 June 2023 (UTC)- If there are less than that, I'd agree and say delete, I agree on
{{past tense of}}
and also think that{{plural of}}
requires deeper discussion, but is much more basic. Vininn126 (talk) 20:15, 13 June 2023 (UTC)- @Vininn126 I orphaned all of the templates in the subject of this section and deleted the two that had < 1000 uses. The others are deprecated. Benwing2 (talk) 02:32, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Benwing2 Thanks! I'm going to mark this thread closed. Vininn126 (talk) 09:00, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
