Erhua in other topolects

[edit]

@Wyang, Suzukaze-c, Atitarev: since erhua is used in other topolects, like Jin, Wu and formal Cantonese (e.g. 哪兒), do you think the main template should be {{zh-erhua form of}} instead and allow for additional labels to specify topolects? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 02:34, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

I suppose so. I'm not sure Cantonese should be included though since formal Cantonese is largely Mandarin read using Cantonese pronunciation. —suzukaze (tc) 03:24, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it's kinda weird to include Cantonese... — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 03:29, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Support, good idea. If the Cantonese erhua is attested, we should use it. Cantonese dictionaries normally provide readings for all standard Chinese (Mandarin) terms. I think I've come across Wu erhua, even added myself but I don't remember any more. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 03:52, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I support moving it to zh- and removing the Mandarin label from the template (with existing uses having the label manually added). Wyang (talk) 06:54, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang I agree. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 06:58, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung, Suzukaze-c: Hi. Bumping the topic. Erhua forms are also used for Jin, at least,e.g. 雞兒鸡儿 (jī'ér), 花兒花儿 (huār). Could we probably have a parameter for a lect, if it's not Mandarin or not just Mandarin? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 21:55, 29 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Atitarev: There's |nolb=, which removes the label. I think ultimately, we should remove the label from this template, opting for {{lb}} outside of the template. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 22:14, 29 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: Thanks. I've applied that at 雞兒鸡儿 (jī'ér). --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 22:18, 29 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
