All entries which use this template currently get flagged by the linter. Maybe there's a way around this? – Jberkel 01:28, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
- So I just came across this and fixed it, but it was reverted by @Rua saying "Please don't break things without providing an alternative" - I don't believe I broke anything, as I noted in my edit summary the previous (and now current) template "results in a wikilink within an external link (lint error) and no display text for the external url" DannyS712 (talk) 11:05, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- The template currently both tags the links in Russian, and adds a category. You removed all of that. —Rua (mew) 13:55, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- The links are the problem, and the category is added for the links that don't exist and thus don't make sense with no link DannyS712 (talk) 01:13, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
- Why are the links a problem now, when they were fine before? —Rua (mew) 10:55, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean by "fine before" - as noted above, the current syntax results in a lint error, see mw:Help:Lint errors/wikilink-in-extlink for explanation. The wikitext in this template is improper DannyS712 (talk) 00:45, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- It wasn't always improper, it was fine before. Something changed to break it. —Rua (mew) 09:31, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Rua how do you know it was fine before? Even without the linter extension reporting the issue, it is still improper wikitext DannyS712 (talk) 23:18, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- When I first created the template, there were no problems. Something changed to break it. —Rua (mew) 10:38, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Rua I believe that this was an issue back in 2015, but if it wasn't, then something changed in the way mediawiki handles wikitext, and it wasn't specific to this template DannyS712 (talk) 11:02, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
- I believe it may have been diff. —Rua (mew) 13:47, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
- Ah, I misunderstood what you were referring to by "something changed" DannyS712 (talk) 23:13, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
