{{R:DSL}}

[edit]

@Sgconlaw Why are there two templates ({{R:Dictionary of the Scots Language}} and {{R:DSL}})? J3133 (talk) 22:56, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

There was a dispute between editors about amendments to {{R:DSL}}, and it could not be satisfactorily resolved so I created a separate template. — SGconlaw (talk) 05:39, 26 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

{{R:Dictionary of the Older Scottish Tongue}}

[edit]

@Sgconlaw You deleted this template, however, it could be created to cite specifically an entry of the Dictionary of the Older Scottish Tongue (https://dsl.ac.uk/entry/dost/[entry]; compare {{R:LOGEION}} and {{R:DMLBS}}, both linking to https://logeion.uchicago.edu/). @J3133: why not just use the current template? Not seeing the utility of creating another template just to link to the same website. Alternatively, I suppose the DOST template could be used to link to PDFs of that dictionary at the Internet Archive – at least it would be serving a distinct purpose. — Sgconlaw (talk) 14:55, 10 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

The only difference between {{R:Dictionary of the Scots Language}} and {{R:DSL}} is that the former is more precise and useful, as it has the parameters |subentry=, |subpos=, |accessdate=, |source=, and |text=. I propose merging these templates. YukaSylvie (talk) 08:11, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

No objection. The reason why there are two templates is because there was formerly an editor (now banned) who refused to allow any changes to {{R:DSL}} (and other reference templates) and edit-warred with other editors over this. If there’s no objection I can handle this. — Sgconlaw (talk) 11:23, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah let's merge. Benwing2 (talk) 19:35, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2, YukaSylvie: it's been a month and there are no objections, so I'll merge the templates. — Sgconlaw (talk) 22:06, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Benwing2, YukaSylvie: OK, I have redirected {{R:DSL}} (now a shortcut) to {{R:Dictionary of the Scots Language}}. It doesn't look like errors have been generated, but please let me know if you encounter any. — Sgconlaw (talk) 13:12, 9 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
