Template:tok-IPA

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary
  • IPA(key): /tok-IPA/ obsolete or nonstandard characters (P), replace I with ɪ, invalid IPA characters (IPA)

This template automatically generates pronunciation sections for Toki Pona words.

For example, on the entry for nanpa, it returns:

  • IPA(key): /ˈnanpa/, [ˈnanpa ~ ˈnampa]
  • Audio:(file)
  • Hyphenation: nan‧pa
  • Rhymes: -anpa

To get the same result on another page (as above), use {{tok-IPA|nanpa}}.

Parameters

[edit]

This template takes several optional parameters.

  • 1: Word to use. Defaults to the subpage name (due to entries being subpages of Appendix:Toki Pona).
  • i: IPA transcription. Defaults to wrapping the word as a broad transcription, with a leading primary stress mark if multiple syllables are detected.
  • i2, i3: Additional IPA transcriptions. The former parameter defaults to a narrow transcription of certain consonant clusters, if any is detected.
  • a: Audio file link. Defaults to a pronunciation by jan Lakuse, if any exists.
  • r: Rhyme. Defaults to a Toki Pona rhyme category that matches the full word, or else the word without the first letter, if either exists.
