Template:pt-pron-adj/documentation
This template is intended for Portuguese pronouns that inflect similar to adjectives. This template works very similarly to {{pt-adj}}
and largely takes the same parameters, but categorizes into Category:Portuguese pronouns instead of Category:Portuguese adjectives (and other generated categories will similarly have pronouns
in their names instead of adjectives
). The following are the principal differences in parameters from {{pt-adj}}
:
- Parameters for comparative, superlative, diminutive and augmentative forms are not available.
- Parameters
|n=
,|n2=
, ... and corresponding qualifiers|n_qual=
,|n2_qual=
, ... are available to specify a neuter form of the pronoun (see below).
NOTE: Be careful not to confuse pronouns with determiners. Pronouns stand by themselves while determiners modify nouns. Use {{pt-det}}
for the headwords of determiners. Often the same term can function as either a pronoun or a determiner; in that case, there should be two part-of-speech entries for the same term, one using {{pt-pron-adj}}
or {{pt-pron}}
, and the other using {{pt-det}}
.
Examples
[edit]For the possessive pronoun meu (“mine”), use:
{{pt-pron-adj|f=minha}}
which produces
meu (feminine minha, masculine plural meus, feminine plural minhas)
For the demonstrative pronoun aquele (“that (over there)”), use:
{{pt-pron-adj|f=aquela|n=aquilo}}
which produces
aquele (feminine aquela, masculine plural aqueles, feminine plural aquelas, neuter aquilo)
For the relative pronoun o qual (“which, whom”), use:
{{pt-pron-adj}}
which produces
o qual (feminine a qual, masculine plural os quais, feminine plural as quais)
Note that this is a multiword term, and hence the default multiword inflection algorithm applies, which correctly inflects both parts.
For the former personal pronoun o senhor (“you (formal)”), use:
{{pt-pron-adj|f=a senhora}}
which produces
o senhor (feminine a senhora, masculine plural os senhores, feminine plural as senhoras)
As with the previous term, this is a multiword term, and both parts inflect. In this case, the feminine is given explicitly, and it is used to form the feminine plural, again with the same default multiword inflection algorithm.
