This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

This template is intended for Portuguese determiners. This template works very similarly to {{pt-adj}} and largely takes the same parameters, but categorizes into Category:Portuguese determiners instead of Category:Portuguese adjectives (and other generated categories will similarly have determiners in their names instead of adjectives). The principal difference in parameters from {{pt-adj}} is that parameters for comparative, superlative, diminutive and augmentative forms are not available.

NOTE: Be careful not to confuse determiners with pronouns. Pronouns stand by themselves while determiners modify nouns. Use {{pt-pron-adj}} or {{pt-pron}} for the headwords of pronouns. Often the same term can function as either a pronoun or a determiner; in that case, there should be two part-of-speech entries for the same term, one using {{pt-pron-adj}} or {{pt-pron}}, and the other using {{pt-det}}.

Examples

[edit]

For the determiner certo ([a] certain), use:

{{pt-det}}

which produces

certo (feminine certa, masculine plural certos, feminine plural certas)

For the possessive determiner meu (my), use:

{{pt-det|f=minha}}

which produces

meu (feminine minha, masculine plural meus, feminine plural minhas)

For the demonstrative determiner aquele (that (over there)), use:

{{pt-det|f=aquela}}

which produces

aquele (feminine aquela, masculine plural aqueles, feminine plural aquelas)

For the indefinite determiner qualquer (any), use:

{{pt-det|pl=quaisquer}}

which produces

qualquer m or f (plural quaisquer)

For the indefinite determiner um ou outro (one or another), use:

{{pt-det|f=uma ou outra}}

which produces

um ou outro (feminine uma ou outra, masculine plural uns ou outros, feminine plural umas ou outras)

Note that this is a multiword term, and hence the default multiword inflection algorithm applies when producing the plural, which correctly inflects the first and last part. In this case, the feminine is given explicitly, and it is used to form the feminine plural, again with the same default multiword inflection algorithm.
