Template:pi-hwtr

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

-

This template is intended for use only within Pali headword templates, though it might be suitable for use with other multi-script languages. It converts the transliteration as specified in the invocation of a headword template, or by its absence, to a transliteration specification as understood by the template {{head}}. It helps implement the requirement that Pali headword lines for non-Roman spellings should display a transliteration if and only if it is different from the Roman script equivalent given by the invocation of {{pi-sc}} in the following definition line. In such cases, it should normally suffice to enter the transliteration as a plus sign (+).

To this end, the template's sole, positional parameter is converted as follows:

Input Output Remark
Absent -
Blank Blank Deprecated. On input to modules from wikitext, no distinction is made between absence and being blank.
+ Blank
Others As input For use when the writing system does not make all the distinctions normally made, as for example in ທັມມະ (damma).
