Documentation for Template:ja-new. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

Japanese autocreation template, using the new function in Module:ja-new (formerly Module:ja) to do its job.

It used to be written with Wiki syntax and called {{ja new}}, and this pagetitle was used for a variant of that template. Now both templates have been merged. Some past discussions can be found at Template talk:ja new.

Use {{ja-add}} to add new readings to an existing Japanese entry.

Must be substituted.

Parameters

[edit]

Basic structure

[edit]
{{subst:ja-new|reading|PoS|def|2nd PoS|2nd def}}
{{subst:ja-new|reading|PoS|def1|def2}}

The second format is used if the PoS is s, suru (noun + suru verb), an, anoun (adjective + noun), or as (adverb + suru).

Core parameters

[edit]
  • reading
    Kana or wāpuro rōmaji spelling of the word. Used when pagename contains kanji. Some tricks can be used here:
    -: Separates readings of different kanji. e.g. 愛国心: あい-こく-しん.
    >NUM: Indicates phonological changes in the kanji reading (such as sokuon, rendaku). Format is original_reading + > + character_number + actual_reading. e.g. 百方: ひゃく>1ひゃっ-ほう>2ぽう.
    <>: Used when the title is not pure kanji. The pair of angled brackets enclose the kanji reading. e.g. 愛らしい: <あい>らしい.
  • PoS
    Part of speech. Acronyms are accepted and preferred. Default is 'n' if empty. See pos_table in Module:ja-new#new for a list of acronyms.
  • def
    Definition.
