[edit]

Use this template to show the inflection of Spanish adjectives.

Parameters

[edit]
Parameter Meaning Default value (if left unspecified) Notes
head headword Page title. This is to allow links in the headword for multi-word terms.
f Feminine singular Uses smart algorithm to generate feminine.
pl Plural Uses smart algorithm to generate plural. Provides a default for mpl and fpl (below).
mpl Masculine plural Same as pl parameter if set, or uses smart algorithm to pluralize the headword.
fpl Feminine plural Same as pl parameter if set, or uses smart algorithm to pluralize the feminine.
pl2 Alternative plural Not set by default. Used if an adjective has two possible plurals.

How does it work?

[edit]

For most articles, just use {{es-adj}}. The template is smart enough to compute the correct feminine and plural in almost all cases.

For the article clave (same in both masculine and feminine, two possible plurals), use
{{es-adj|pl=#|pl2=+}}
Here, # means to use the lemma form clave, and + means to request the default plural claves.
For the article andaluz (feminine in -a; the default algorithm would generate the feminine andaluz), use
{{es-adj|f=andaluza}}
For the article obturador (feminine obturatriz), use
{{es-adj|f=obturatriz}}
Note in this case that the correct masculine plural obturadores and correct feminine plural obturatrices are automatically generated.
For the article cortés (feminine same as masculine, when the default algorithm would generate the feminine cortesa), use
{{es-adj|f=#}}
Here, # means to use the lemma form cortés.
For the article oromo (feminine same as masculine, when the default algorithm would generate the feminine oromo; plural oromos or oromo), use
{{es-adj|f=#|pl=+|pl2=#}}
For the article bueno, with irregular comparative and superlative, use
{{es-adj|comp=mejor|sup=buenísimo|sup2=bonísimo|sup3=óptimo}}
