Template:es-IPA

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary
  • IPA(key): /ˌes ˈipa/ [ˌes ˈi.pa]

Use {{es-pr}} instead.
Use {{es-pr}} instead of invoking this template directly. {{es-pr}} works similarly to this template but autogenerates rhymes and hyphenation as well as pronunciation.

This template generates the phonemic and phonetic pronunciations for a given Spanish term.

Parameters

[edit]

Normally, call this template with no parameters, and it will automatically generate the pronunciation for the page name.

NOTE: The invocation of {{es-IPA}} should occur on a line by itself. Do not put a bullet mark (*) before it. The bullet mark is generated by the template.

|1=
Phonetic respelling of word or phrase. Needed for some terms whose pronunciation does not match the normal rules. It can also be used to specify the word or phrase to generate the pronunciation for, when used on a documentation or test page.
|bullets=
Number of bullet marks to place before the generated pronunciation. Defaults to 1.
|pre=
Text to place before the generated pronunciation.
|post=
Text to place after the generated pronunciation.
|ref=
Text to place after the generated pronunciation, but without a space between the pronunciation and the text. Intended for references.
|style=
Style restriction. If specified, only pronunciations for the matching style are generated. Examples of parameter values:
  • distincion for distinción-only (as used in Spain, where s and c/z have different pronunciations);
  • seseo for seseo-only (as used in Latin America, where s and c/z have the same pronunciations);
  • lleismo for lleismo-only (as used in parts of Spain and Latin America, where y and ll have different pronunciations);
  • yeismo for yeismo-only (as used in most of Spain and Latin America, where y and ll have the same pronunciations);
  • rioplatense for rioplatense-only (Argentinian/Uruguayan accents);
  • sheismo for sheismo-only (as used in Buenos Aires, where y and ll are pronounced as /ʃ/);
  • zheismo for zheismo-only (as used in Argentina and Uruguay outside of Buenos Aires, where y and ll are pronounced as /ʒ/);
  • -rioplatense to suppress rioplatense accents;
  • distincion+lleismo to only indicate the accent that involves both distinción and lleismo.
  • seseo+lleismo to only include the accent that involves both seseo and lleismo.
In general, writing STYLE1+STYLE2 restricts to only where both styles apply; writing STYLE1,STYLE2 restricts to where either style applies; and -STYLE restricts to where the specified style does not apply. You can combine them, e.g. STYLE1+STYLE2,-STYLE3 means either the case where both STYLE1 and STYLE2 applies, or the case where STYLE3 does not apply.
