Template:egy-IPA-R/documentation
Appearance
Use this template to show reconstructed Egyptian pronunciations. All parameters are optional. For details about reconstruction, see Appendix:Egyptian pronunciation and the works cited there.
Basic usage is
{{egy-IPA-R|o=Old Egyptian pronunciation|m=Middle Egyptian pronunciation|l=Late Egyptian pronunciation}}
Parameters
[edit]|o=
or|1=
- The reconstructed Old Egyptian pronunciation, since the 3rd Dynasty but before the changes that began in the 6th Dynasty.
|m=
or|2=
- The reconstructed Middle Egyptian pronunciation around the middle of the Middle Kingdom, after the fall of syllable-final r and t and the fronting of palatals but before the fall of the glides.
|ml=
or|3=
- The reconstructed Medio-Late Egyptian pronunciation during the Amarna Period (as reflected, for example, in Akkadian transcriptions).
|l=
or|4=
- The reconstructed Late Egyptian pronunciation around the Third Intermediate Period, after significant vowel shifts (as reflected, for example, in Neo-Assyrian Akkadian transcriptions).
|V=
- Set equal to anything if the symbol V representing an unknown short vowel appears in the pronunciations; otherwise, don’t use this parameter.
|o2=
|m2=
|ml2=
|l2=
- More detailed pronunciations, visible when the template is expanded but not when it’s collapsed.
|onote=
|mnote=
|mlnote=
|lnote=
- Further notes or details to be shown after the pronunciations when the template is expanded. (Overriden by
o2=
etc. if those parameters are used instead.)
|q=
- A qualifier for the entire reconstructed pronunciation, for instance if a pronunciation section covers multiple parts of speech and a particular one needs to be specified.
|ref=
- A reference for the reconstructed pronunciations, inside
<ref>
tags. (References can alternatively be included in the note parameters.)
