Parameters

[edit]
|1=
Word or phrase, including accent marks. If omitted, defaults to the page name (only useful for monosyllabic words). See Respelling for how to format this parameter.
|endschwa=
If true, transcribes final -а(т) or -я(т) as if written with ъ. This should be set for the first-person singular and third-person plural present verb forms and definite nouns. As an alternative, placing the Unicode combining dot below (U+0323) character on a vowel will denote the same effect; this is necessary if a word with this behavior has other words that follow it.
|ann=
An annotation to show for the pronunciation, prepended to the front, before the IPA itself; useful when there are multiple homographs that differ only by accent position. If set to 1, it will put the stressed term (minus grave accents) as the annotation; otherwise, whatever annotation is specified will be used.

Respelling

[edit]

The first parameter is used as the term to generate IPA from, and is generally more complex than the typical Bulgarian spelling: for instance, you should additionally place a combining acute accent (U+301) after the stressed vowel in the term to indicate primary stress, such as in {{bg-IPA|при́мер}}.

In terms that span multiple words (may be spelled with a hyphen, rather than a space), stress all the content words, but don't put an accent on unstressed words such as до (do), да (da), без (bez), etc.

For terms that use the /w/ phoneme, usually in words of English origin, the у (u) that the /w/ is usually spelled with should be re-spelled as ў, a letter of the Belarusian alphabet. An example would be {{bg-IPA|ўи́ски}}, rendering IPA(key): [ˈwiski].
