This template is used to quote a passage from one particular publication to demonstrate the existence of a Pali word. The passages are stored in Module:RQ:pi:U17106, where the words are tagged by positive ID numbers; different passages have different numbering schemes. A quotation can be provided by an entry such as {{RQ:pi:U17106 quote|20|l2|6}}. The arguments mean use the quotation 'l2' from page 20, and embolden the word tagged as number 6. The result of this invocation is:

The additional parameter |brackets=on may be used to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
