Usage
[edit]This template may be used in Wiktionary entry pages to source Pali or Shan quotes taken from the Sinhala script edition of the Udāna.
Parameters
[edit]The template takes the following parameters:
|1=
or|page=
, or|pages=
- the page number(s) quoted from. When quoting a range of pages with
|pages=
, separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this:|pages=110–111
. |2=
or|passage=
- a passage to be quoted from the work.
|3=
or|transliteration=
(optional)- a transliteration of the passage into the Latin alphabet. This is only needed if word delimitation is to be different from that in the passage.
|4=
or|translation=
- a translation of the passage into English
|brackets=
(optional)- use
|brackets=on
to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms. |norm=
(optional)- A normalisation of the passage, correcting any erroneous forms that will not be recorded in Wiktionary with their spelling or intended sense.
|ts=
(optional)- A normalisation of the transliteration to the Roman script orthography.
|lit=
(optional)- A literal translation of the passage, for use when relating the translation to the original is too confusing.
