@KirillW The source text seems to contain a typo, but I'm not sure if the translation I've now provided is the intended one. I'd say "pitkin" here mean "along" ("mööt" is used in the AL dialect for this) and "patsait" is pylon:PTV:PL, which gives in Russian "По опорам тянется провод тонкий" or in English something like "A thin wire stretches along the pylons". We've seen a similar example recently in the Loonnontiito book part 2, page 11: "[...] neet niityt, kummat vennuut pitkin jokkia [...]". KirillW (talk) 10:19, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

@KirillW: Yeah I wasn't sure about the infinitive either... I guess since it's sannoa (not *sannooa) the entry should be moved to vennua? But yes, your interpretation makes much more sense. I didn't think about the fact pitkin could be prepositioned. Thadh (talk) 14:24, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Well I didn't think either, I just translated :) But at least in Finnish pitkin can be used as both pre- and postposition (https://kaino.kotus.fi/visk/sisallys.php?p=705).

Yes, vennua should be the same spelling as sannoa, which is apparently transcribed as such in Junus' orthography. KirillW (talk) 15:32, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
