Pseudo-Taliesin Quotation
[edit](Notifying Mahagaja): We have a quotation from pseudo-Taliesin. There are several problems with it:
- How do I put it into a proper template, or should I not bother?
- Learned opinion seems to be that Yr Awdl Fraith is not by Taliesin, but composed in late mediaeval times, which I suppose should make it Middle Welsh. Is that in fact the language of the version quoted? The spelling looks Modern Welsh, but I feel it may be Middle Welsh transposed to Modern Welsh, and thus invalid as evidence of Modern Welsh. Is it valid enough to use as a quotation for the Middle Welsh word? --RichardW57 (talk) 00:51, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- I think the template is fine as it is. I really don't know anything about Welsh literature and authors, but of course if it's likely to be from the 14th c. or earlier it should be called Middle Welsh. Ideally we should use the original spelling in the quote and create an entry for the Middle Welsh word, which I assume was spelled undec. —Mahāgaja · talk 05:59, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
Cynddelw Quotation
[edit](Notifying Mahagaja): : The author to whom this is attributed seems to be Cynddelw Brydydd Mawr fl. c. 1155–1200, so again, this text seems to be Middle Welsh with modernised spelling! Do you concur? --RichardW57 (talk) 01:25, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- Same answer as above. —Mahāgaja · talk 05:59, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
