[edit]Tinnitus, from the Latin word “tinnire” is not an "itis": Suffix meaning inflammation. rather the "itus" suffix should pronounce the short i sound. — This comment was unsigned.
- According to the entry, the Latin "i" is long, so /tɪˈnaɪ̯təs/ would actually be the "correct" pronunciation in English. It does sound strange, though. I've only ever heard it from Americans. Does it exist in European English at all? 178.4.151.74 03:30, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
