Medieval Latin borrowed from French?

@Samubert96 Hi, when I look up this word in du Cange's dictionary, I find a quote apparently from the time of Pope Eugene III (1080 – 1153). So it's rather Medieval Latin and du Cange himself gives "ex Gall. Tamis", so from French. I also read in this Catalan dictionary that all Romance languages where the word occurs have borrowed it from French. So maybe there was no Latin ancestor of French tamis... Thank you for taking interest in this word! I changed the entry putting it inside the Medieval Latin category as you suggested. Tamisium was probably a Latinized form of a preexistent word which originated in France from a Celtic source, perhaps via Proto-Germanic, so I guess you're right in saying that there is no Latin ancestor for the lemma.
