@Ungoliant MMDCCLXIV, do we have any active editors from Portugal who could help with this? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 04:29, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Not that I know of, but maybe @Waldir can help. — Ungoliant (falai) 13:03, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I haven't heard of this concept until now, but I can see what I can dig up. What do you need help with, in particular? --Waldir (talk) 15:26, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Waldir, do you think you could add the IPA for the European pronunciation? — Ungoliant (falai) 15:54, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I don't have much experience with IPA, but based on Help:IPA/Portuguese and Appendix:Portuguese pronunciation, I'd say the correct phonetic transcription would be something like IPA(key): /siɡlɐʃ puvejɾɐʃ/. At least the first part seems consistent with sigla#Portuguese (poveiro didn't exist, I just created it). --Waldir (talk) 21:56, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Priberam says poveiro has ò, so I’d guess /ɔ/ instead of /u/. I’ll try to find some actual evidence. — Ungoliant (falai) 13:38, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
It’s really /ɔ/ ([1], [2]). I’ve edited the pronunciation accordingly and also added the stress marks and the ⟨ei⟩ variant from the transcription scheme used by Liuscomaes. — Ungoliant (falai) 15:16, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I didn't know Priberam had this sort of information! That's good to know. Thanks, Ungoliant! —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 15:34, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ah, makes sense -- I forgot that the etymology of "Póvoa" would provide the cue for the correct pronunciation; otherwise the word would default to the /u/ sound. — This unsigned comment was added by Waldir (talkcontribs) at 13:33, 16 May 2018‎.
