The etymology for this points to rassis, the etymology for which points right back here so, yeah, that's unhelpful. I do see that rassir points to the entry for rasseoir. The only way I see the connection is via definition B, involving leaving something such as wine to sit to let the impurities settle out. I can imagine that extending to bread getting stale when it's been left to sit out for too long. But that's speculation on my part. Largoplazo (talk) 17:29, 27 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
