Not sure about the chemistry entries
[edit]Right now there's a sense entry " Added to the name of an element in a polyatomic ion to denote the number of atoms of that element (usually four)." This page: https://chemed.chem.purdue.edu/genchem/topicreview/bp/ch2/names.html - says it's "used to indicate the very highest oxidation state".
