The word is not dated. As for the formal tag, well, I agree it is scarcely used in familiar language, but French dictionaries (Petit Larousse, TLFi, etc.) do not mention it as formal or literary, though; they give no mention at all. --Actarus ^{(Prince d'Euphor)} 17:10, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
